INFO DAY of the ECORED Project – Erasmus+ KA2 Programme

On the 15 December 2017, the ECORED INFO-DAY was organized at Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) to disseminate ECORED project & 5 ECO-RED courses to HUST students and staffs as well as provide students with detailed instructions on how to apply for these courses.

ECO-RED is an Erasmus+ Project, funded by the European Commission under the Key Action 2 (Capacity building in the field of higher education) with the aim of promoting the collaboration between European and Vietnam. The specific objective is to elaborate 5 new modules on Renewable Energy Development recognized by EU partners & meeting the needs of the Vietnamese universities as well as the increasing demand for the highly qualified engineers of the labor market in Vietnam and in the Region. These 5 European quality courses will be delivered in 3 partner universities in Vietnam (HUST, HCMUT, CTU) in the second semester of the academic year 2017-2018. The best students will be selected for an intensive course in 3 universities in Europe.

Students learn about the project

Participating at the INFO DAY were HUST representatives from the offices of academic affairs, international affairs, interested lecturers & involved lecturers of 5 ECORED modules; invited representatives from other Erasmus+ KA2 Projects (ASIFOOD, NUTRISEA, CATALYST, LMPI, VETEC, TACTIC), invited industry representatives. Especially, the INFO-DAY attracted the participation of more than 150 students from different schools of HUST. Some HUST alumni were presence and show high motivation to learn about the elaborated courses.

On behalf of ECORED team at HUST, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Phu Khanh, Director of International Cooperation Department made a brief introduction on ECORED project to give students an overview of the project activities and some background for the elaborated courses. Assoc. Prof. Le Anh Tuan – Dean of School of Transportation Engineering made a presentation on the overview as well as syllabus of 5 ECORED courses. To give students a deeper understanding about the relevance of the courses, Dr. Nguyen Huy Phuong – Dean of Electrical Engineering School emphasized that renewable energy development was a global trend and gave a presentation to share the development strategy of electricity energy in Vietnam and the importance of renewable energy development as well as increasing demand for high-qualified engineer of renewable energy.

A lot of questions were raised by students regarding the application procedure and selection criteria. The others focused on details of course delivery, concrete topics included in each module, especially the instruction language. Some students were interested in the requirements and selection criteria for the selection of the best students for intensive course in EU. All questions were carefully addressed by responsible people of the University, ECORED team and lecturers who directly involved in course elaboration and delivery. The ECORED team spent time on advising students suitable courses for their academic background and career purpose.

Delivery of ECORED Courses

·  Call for Application to 5 ECORED courses is open from 10 – 25 December 2017.

·  Delivery of ECORED Courses is planned to start in January 2018.

·  5 courses to be delivered:

  1. Course 1: Renewable Energy Sources and Management
  2. Course 2: Application of Wind and Solar Energy
  3. Course 3: Biomass and Bio-fuels
  4. Course 4: Integration of Renewable Energy Based Generation System into Power Systems
  5. Course 5: Power Conversion Interfaces for Renewable Energy System·
