On March 22, the Young Scientists Club of HUST, in collaboration with the Youth Union, hosted a seminar titled “AI in Education and Research”. The event featured three HUST scientists Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Phi Le (AI4Life Institute), Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Hoang Viet (School of Materials Science and Engineering), and Dr. Nguyen Viet Khoa (Faculty of Foreign Languages), attracting over 100 faculty members and researchers.
In the age of AI transformation, we must adapt, learn, and develop alongside it in a controlled and informed manner. During the seminar, three speakers introduced AI tools and best practices, including prompt engineering for optimized searches, AI-assisted lesson planning, exam question generation, plagiarism detection, literature review, data analysis using Google Colab, and ethical considerations in AI usage. Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Phi Le shares insights on AI at the seminar.
Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Phi Le provided HUST faculty, researchers, and graduate students with key insights into AI and its fundamentals, distinctions between AI, machine learning, and deep learning, as well as examples of traditional and generative AI. She also introduced AI-powered tools for teaching, including ChatGPT Grading for scoring and assessment, Google NotebookLM for lesson planning, quiz creation, and information synthesis, and Gamma for generating presentations. Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Hoang Viet delivered an engaging presentation titled “AI As An Assistive Tool in Research”, drawing strong interest from attendees. The expert from the School of Materials Science and Engineering provided a detailed guide on utilizing AI tools in Google Colab for literature reviews, report processing, and data analysis. At the seminar, Dr. Nguyen Viet Khoa presented on “Ethical Principles for GenAI in Higher Education”, emphasizing the importance of ethical AI use, global regulatory trends, and individual responsibility in promoting responsible AI use. He highlighted key principles, including integrity, privacy, fairness, and transparency.
