Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST)

On October 1, 2024, the U.S. Embassy in Vietnam, in collaboration with Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST), successfully hosted the U.S. Graduate Education Fair for STEM fields at HUST. The event attracted participation from representatives of 8 prominent U.S. universities, alongside students and faculty from four major Vietnamese universities.

North Carolina State University, USA (NCSU) and Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) engaged in a fruitful exchange of ideas and collaboration opportunities during a two-day visit from April 8 to April 9, 2024. The visit aimed to strengthen ties between the two esteemed institutions and explore opportunities for joint research and academic partnerships.

Last Tuesday (April 2, 2024) marked a historic moment of AUF Asia Pacific (the Agency of French-speaking universities in Asia-Pacific) as the relocation of its new headquarters to Hanoi University of Science and Technology’s campus since its first establishment in Hanoi over 30 years ago.

In 2023, Hanoi University of Science and Technology is dedicated to upholding cherished traditional values while unwaveringly ensuring academic excellence. Simultaneously, the Univeristy is driving innovation to better align with the evolving demands of learners, societal expectations, and the broader public in the face of the digital economy and globalization.

On November 24, the Hanoi University of Science and Technology Alumni Chapter in the United Kingdom was officially inaugurated in London, marking a significant milestone for the development of the University's Alumni Association. The chapter, established on October 15 this year in celebration of the 67th anniversary of the university's founding, serves as a dedicated platform for alumni based in the UK to foster connections, share ideas, and delve into opportunities for collaboration and growth.

Once feeling regretful for never touching an international medal and stumbling a few times during studies at the Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Nguyen Trung Quan never ceased pursuing his passion for robotics and eventually became a professor after 5 years in the United States.

In his formative years, Pham Minh Son navigated a challenging path, earning a livelihood by collecting trash, and discontinuing his education due to his family's financial downfall. However, upon his return, Pham Minh Son exhibited an unwavering determination to surpass academic expectations, securing numerous scholarships and ultimately being honored with the 2024 Young Innovator Award. Currently, Associate Professor Pham Minh Son is the Chairman of the Hanoi University of Science and Technology's Alumni UK Charter.

The POSCO TJ Park Scholarship has been awarded to 10 excellent students of HUST, acknowledging their outstanding academic accomplishments and exemplary training. Each scholarship is valued at $1,000 USD.

Staff capacity enhancement is one of the key objectives of Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) outlined in its 'Development Strategy for 2017-2025.' As part of the "Enabling an Environment of Quality for International HE Partnerships between the UK and Vietnam - EQUIP" project, faculty and staff at HUST engaged in a two-day professional development training program from October 2-3. The training aimed to instill knowledge about quality processes aligning with international standards within the context of local culture.

From 22 to 31 Aug 2023, the HUST-HTW Dresden Summer Program on the topic of "Environment, Climate Change, and Biodiversity for Sustainable Development Goals" has been organized for the first time at HUST. The program has marked an important advancement in the collaboration between the two universities.

For this Summer Semester at HUST, the External Affairs Office has warmly organized an orientation day to welcome 25 students from different countries across Europe and Asia such as France, Germany, India, and Thailand who are going to do their internship in the research labs of HUST.

Through cooperation signing with foreign university partners, HUST commits to establish a professional, international and multi-cultural learning environment, where HUST students are educated to become global citizens in the future.

On May 15, 2023, a significant event took place in Hai Phong as Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) and the Hai Phong Economic Zone Authority (HEZA) hosted a Conference aimed at fostering connections between educational institutions and businesses. More than 20 local businesses in Hai Phong were invited to participate, with the primary objective of promoting cooperation in training and cultivating high-quality human resources to support the construction and development of industrial parks and economic zones in Hai Phong. Remarkably, during the conference, HUST successfully signed cooperation agreements with several enterprises based in the Hai Phong Economic Zone.

“The commitment to community-driven sustainable development is a top priority for the Vietnam-UK Higher Education Network (UK-VN HEP) and also Hanoi University of Science and Technology in the coming period.” This is the highlighted by Dr. Bui Thi Ngoc Thuy, Deputy Head of the External Affairs Office at Hanoi University of Science and Technology during the meeting with representatives from Hoa Binh College of Education.

Hanoi University of Science and Technology, as the co-chair of the UK-Vietnam Higher Education Network, is fully committed to driving the advancement of higher education in the era of internationalisation and digital transformation, working hand in hand with its network partners. 

The seminar entitled "Research and knowledge transfer in Vietnam: designing an excellence framework" was held on April 13, 2023, as part of the "Vietnam Days in the UK" program, which celebrated the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the UK and Vietnam. The Embassy of Vietnam in the UK and the UK-Vietnam Higher Education Partnership network (UK-VN HEP) hosted the hybrid seminar in London. The University of Portsmouth, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Bournemouth University, Hanoi University of Mining and Geology, and Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City contributed to the event.
