HUST strengthens cooperation with Universities Wales to promote solving global challenging issues.

On March 13 and 14, Hanoi University of Science and Technology welcomed a delegation of professors from Bangor University and the University of South Wales to discuss cooperation in the areas of green energy and sustainable agriculture.
The program is sponsored by the Welsh government and piloted at Hanoi University of Science and Technology and Can Tho University. The aim of the delegation visit is to strengthen research collaboration between the two countries on renewable energy and green agriculture. These areas align well with four key research areas of HUST which are Advanced Materials, Data Technology and Intelligent Systems, Sustainable Energy and the Environment, and Health Sciences and Technology.

During the visit, scientists from both sides discussed their research projects and opportunities for mutual cooperation. The Welsh professors also visited Viettel High Technology Industries Corporation and shared their ideas on the development of Vietnam technology. Together with Viettel High Technology Industries Corporation, scientists from the universities of Wales and Hanoi University of Science and Technology expressed their desire to promote tripartite cooperation to develop practical technologies and applications, especially in sustainable agriculture, IoT, and 5G network. Mr. Vu Tuan Duc, Director of Technical and Technology Center of Viettel, also emphasized the potential for practical cooperation between parties, citing their long-term cooperation with HUST researchers and international research experience of the Welsh scientists.

Global Wales has been a close partner of Hanoi University of Science and Technology over the years, jointly organizing many international programs and seminars, including the Digital Transformation Conference in Higher Education 2021, the seminar on Internationalization in Higher Education 2022, and the capacity building program “Leadership and Governance”. This is the first time the Wales - Vietnam partnership program is organized. Global Wales sponsored Welsh scientists to work at Hanoi University of Science and Technology and Can Tho University from March 13-17. After this visit, a delegation of Vietnamese scientists is invited to work in Wales in April 2023 and provided with funding for joint research cooperation projects.
