HUST promotes partnerships with leading universities in the UK

During the UK business trip from November 20 to 24, 2023, the UK-Vietnam Rectors' Forum in Edinburgh convened more than 60 leaders from higher education institutions in the UK and Vietnam. The event serves as a platform for fostering opportunities between UK and Vietnamese universities, promoting interdisciplinary approaches in areas such as climate change, energy transition, and innovation. It seeks to strengthen the partnership between the two countries, capitalizing on collaborative research funding from the government and joint doctoral training initiatives.

Deputy Minister of Education and Training, Associate Professor Hoang Minh Son, expressed his belief that the forum provides a valuable opportunity for leaders from both countries' universities to discuss potential collaborations in teaching and research, especially with the participation of businesses.
 

As the Chairman of the UK-Vietnam Higher Education Partnership Network (UK-VN HEP), Associate Professor Huynh Quyet Thang highlighted the significance of comprehensive cooperation between universities in the two countries. He also expressed hope that UK universities could support Vietnam in governance and internationalization, aligning with the current context of higher education autonomy in Vietnam.
 

Within the program's framework, Hanoi University of Science and Technology signed a cooperation agreement with three prominent UK universities: Bristol University, Glasgow Caledonia University, and Arden University. The collaboration aims to cover extensive areas, including Health Science and Technology, Sustainable Energy and Environment, and Innovation and Startups.

During the visit, the Hanoi University of Science and Technology delegation also explored models promoting research and innovation at renowned UK universities such as Cambridge University, Imperial College London, and Edinburgh Napier University.
 

HUST has established collaborations with approximately 15 universities and research organizations in the UK. From 2020 to 2023, the University implemented 12 collaborative projects with British partners, focusing on scientific research, capacity building, and the promotion of creative startups.

This UK visit is part of the broader British Council program named Going Global Partnerships and is aligned with the Memorandum of Understanding on educational cooperation between the British Council and the Ministry of Education and Training.
