North Carolina State University visit to Hanoi University of Science and Technology has opened new avenues for collaboration

North Carolina State University, USA (NCSU) and Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) engaged in a fruitful exchange of ideas and collaboration opportunities during a two-day visit from April 8 to April 9, 2024. The visit aimed to strengthen ties between the two esteemed institutions and explore opportunities for joint research and academic partnerships.

Representatives from various departments and schools of both universities convened on April 8 for a comprehensive group meeting. Attendees from HUST included representatives from the Department of Partnership and Engagement, Department of Science and Technology, School of Chemistry and Life Sciences, School of Mechanical Engineering, School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Department of Pedagogy Education, and the Institute of Energy Technology.

Similarly, from NCSU, delegates represented the Graduate School, along with professors from disciplines including Marine, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, Chemistry, Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Natural Resources, Engineering Management, and Electrical Engineering.

Throughout the afternoon of April 8 and all day on April 9, NCSU delegates engaged in a series of seminars with faculty members and students from various departments and schools at HUST. These sessions were designed to provide insights into scholarship opportunities, postgraduate programs available at NCSU, and potential research directions for collaboration.

The exchange not only facilitated dialogue on academic collaboration but also served as a platform for fostering a deeper understanding between the academic communities of both institutions. Dr. Peter Harries, Dean of the Graduate School, Professor of Marine, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, NCSU, expressed his enthusiasm about the visit, stating, “Our interaction with the esteemed faculty and students of HUST has been incredibly insightful. We see immense potential for collaboration in various fields, and we look forward to exploring further opportunities for mutual benefit."

Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Dac Trung, Director of the Department of Partnership and Engagement, HUST, echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing the importance of such exchanges in fostering global partnerships and advancing knowledge across borders. "The visit of the NCSU delegation has opened new avenues for collaboration and knowledge exchange," he said.
