From October 28 to November 1, 2023, HUST and 27 science and technology universities, part of the Network of Technical Universities (G28), actively participated in the Vietnam International Innovation Expo 2023 (VIIE 2023).
G28, established in 1993 with HUST as the Standing Chairman, serves as a vital link connecting Vietnamese and international innovation ecosystems. HUST's exhibition area, overseen by G28, showcased cutting-edge products with high-tech applications in AI, IoT, and big data. The booth featured innovative solutions for production line automation, digital factories, digital government, national security, and smart cities, including robotic systems, semiconductor chips, firefighting robots, drones suppression, and healthcare and environmental robotic systems.

The spirit of innovation at HUST was not confined to product displays; faculty, lecturers, and students actively engaged in various exhibition activities, contributing valuable insights and embodying the innovative spirit of the university. At the Vietnam Semiconductor Technology Summit, Assoc. Prof. Huynh Dang Chinh, Vice President of HUST, highlighted the university's pivotal role in the semiconductor technology industry in Vietnam. He outlined HUST's three advantages: comprehensive coverage in training human resources, extensive experience, and a tradition of excellence.

Assoc. Prof. Huynh Dang Chinh emphasized HUST's commitment to multidisciplinary research and development, particularly in semiconductor materials, sensors, photovoltaics, and chip design. The university's strategic plan for 2017-2025 focuses on maintaining and enhancing collaborations through three networks: Vietnamese technical schools of technology, Enterprises and FDI Enterprises & Vietnamese Enterprises, and the International Network.

HUST students actively participated in forums and workshops during VIIE 2023, delving into topics like energy transition, the Green Hydrogen energy industry, and the Vietnam Semiconductor Industry. President of HUST, Assoc. Prof. Huynh Quyet Thang, expressed optimism about the expo's diverse focus areas, acknowledging both expectations and challenges. He also highlighted HUST's recent resolution to establish the Center for Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship, believing in the capacity of HUST students to pioneer innovative projects that benefit society.
