HUST signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement with Japan's leading medical group

On May 23rd, 2022, Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST), Vietnam, and Medical・Environmental・Regenerative Research Organization MERRO Group Japan (MERRO) signed the comprehensive Agreement in order to implement and promote academic exchange, research cooperation, and joint industrialization, creating business by making the practical use of the result acquired from the research between the two Parties.

Signing a comprehensive agreement with MERRO Group is in conformity with the developing priority in the field of Health Science and Technology of HUST, in the coming time.

At the signing ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Huynh Quyet Thang, President of the University, expressed his appreciation for the meaningful educational aided activities of the corporation over the years and expected to develop the strategic cooperation between the two sides. He stressed that “HUST and MERRO Group sign the strategic cooperation agreement, creating a legal framework for the implementation of deeper and broader cooperation activities, contributing to creating high-quality human resources for the society. It is expected to create many achievements in the Medical, Environmental and Regenerative fields. This agreement is separated from the annual MERRO scholarship agreement, regarded as a further development of the ongoing fruitful cooperation, and proved the mutual trust and the expectation of greater results in the coming time.”

It is stipulated in the Agreement that, both sides would strive to promote the following collaboration: Exchange of academic and research information and publications; conducting joint research projects and organizing academic conferences and Symposia; Conducting joint research training and research mentorship;  Conducting joint activities to encourage practical use of research result; Conducting joint activities to enhance public health and public health-related issues; Conducting joint activities to enhance Quality of Life (QOL); Exchange of Vietnamese and Japanese people including administrative staff, academic and researchers and students.

Ms. Atsuko Matsuoka awarded scholarships and certificates to HUST students.

Since 2019, according to the Memorandum of Understanding on Scholarships (MERRO) for HUST students, MERRO Group has sponsored excellent students to study the Master courses at the University. The scholarship is awarded annually and is equivalent to the full tuition fee of one academic year.

Up to now, there are 4 students majoring in Biomedical Engineering at the School of Electrical and Electronics Engineering who have been honored to receive this scholarship.

A Comprehensive Agreement Signing Ceremony successfully took place at HUST.

Hanoi University of Science and Technology is the leading technical university in Vietnam with the ranking of 360th in the world and the 1st in Vietnam in the field of engineering and technology. In the period of 2021-2030, Health Science and Technology is one of the four priority development orientations of the University.

MERRO Corporation is a large technology corporation, ranking in the top 5 in Japan, with medical technology and a system of modern hospitals. Currently, the group has 6 member units with strong deployment activities in the field of medicine and healthcare.
