Niềm vui của Nguyễn Đỗ Ý Nhi ngày tốt nghiệp cử nhân Vật lý kỹ thuật, Đại học Bách khoa Hà Nội
The joy of Nguyễn Đỗ Ý Nhi on her graduation day with a Bachelor's in Engineering Physics from Hanoi University of Science and Technology.
In a conversation with Nguyễn Đỗ Ý Nhi – a student in the Advanced Engineering Program at the School of Engineering Physics, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, who was recently offered a job by Qorvo, a leading American company in designing, developing, and manufacturing semiconductor products for communications – one is immediately impressed by the bright eyes, calm voice, and powerful determination of this vibrant HUST girl. Nhi's journey began with something seemingly simple – a love for Physics since middle school! "I found it magical that everything around me could be explained by Physics. The more I learned, the deeper I wanted to understand!" – Nhi shared about the passion that has followed her throughout her school years.

During her high school years, Nhi's love for Physics was further ignited when she was inspired by her physics teacher - an alumna of the Institute of Engineering Physics (now the School of Engineering Physics) at Hanoi University of Science and Technology. The teacher not only taught but also "opened a window" for Nhi and her friends to see a different world at a school named Hanoi University of Science and Technology. In that place, science was not dry but full of applications, creativity, and emotion. That was the moment Nhi decided: I must go to Hanoi University of Science and Technology to study Engineering Physics!

The Advanced Engineering Program, a Place to Forge Resilience

Recalling the end of high school, although confident in her academic abilities, Nhi was not complacent. Nhi was well aware of the fierce competition at Hanoi University of Science and Technology - a top engineering school. After researching the admission methods, Nhi chose the Talent Screening method: a portfolio review combined with an interview. The young woman boldly applied with hope and nervousness. "I didn't think I would be chosen because so many other students were also outstanding," Nhi recalled. But then one day, the congratulatory letter of admission to HUST arrived. It was not just an ordinary letter but a ticket that opened the door to a journey full of challenges and opportunities.

From the moment she set foot in HUST, Nhi set a specific academic path for herself: to continue to graduate school immediately after completing her bachelor's degree. However, after four years of university, she gradually realized she was starting to lose direction by continuously studying without practical experience. Nhi decided that after graduating with her bachelor's degree in 2024, she would spend the next 1.5 years completing the advanced engineering program, equipping herself with the necessary skills and knowledge for a practical job. She believed this period would help her better define her goals, study with proactivity and clear direction, and enrich her practical work and life experiences.

Nhi chose to enroll in the advanced engineering program - a special program at Hanoi University of Science and Technology for students with strong academic abilities, a desire for specialized development, and a spirit of commitment to the engineering profession. For many, this is an arduous journey because it involves studying in-depth specialized subjects and training at a higher level.

For Nhi, it was a precious opportunity to delve deeper into knowledge than in the bachelor's program, expand her mindset, and discover herself. "Studying in the advanced engineering program is not easy, but it's not scary either. I got to study more specialized courses, get exposed to research early on, and especially, always have very close mentorship from the teachers. That has helped me mature faster, both academically and in my independent thinking," Nhi shared.

Nhi chose two main programs: Electronic Materials and Nanotechnology, and Measurement - Inspection. The combination of these two research directions helps Nhi have a solid foundation and, at the same time, a good ability to adapt to the constant movement of modern technology.

At the School of Engineering Physics, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Nhi had the opportunity to participate in real research projects. One of them was a project to fabricate materials using a microwave method. At that time, this was a rather new technique for the research group, so Nhi and her friends had to constantly experiment, accept failure, and patiently repeat the process many times to get the desired results. Some days, the group worked until 9 PM in the lab.

Nhi proudly recalls: "That period was very difficult, but I never thought of giving up. Every time I remember the moment the group achieved a successful result, it's like a warm flame is added to my heart, illuminating the path I'm on to be more determined." It was these experiences that helped Nhi train her patience, resilience, and professional work attitude - things not found in any textbook.
Not only studying and conducting scientific research, Nhi also participated in many academic exchange activities, internships, and workshops connected by the university with businesses. "What impresses me most about the advanced engineering program is that the curriculum is always linked to practice. We don't just learn to know, but learn to do, to solve problems in life. Those things make me more confident when entering the business environment."

With the dedicated guidance from lecturers and an open, serious learning environment that promotes creativity at Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Nhi has won the university-level Scientific Research award twice and received many scholarships. These are not only rewards for her efforts but also stepping stones for Nhi to advance further in her future journey.

A Message to the Dreams Ahead

For Nguyễn Đỗ Ý Nhi, her youth at HUST was a time of perseverance, many challenges, and immense value. That perseverance led her to an internship scholarship from Qorvo - a leading US company in the design, development, and manufacture of semiconductor products. This was followed by an official job offer as a semiconductor packaging engineer at the same company.

The young woman thought for a long time before deciding. Because Nhi had once very much wanted to continue on to a Ph.D., eager to experience a more diverse academic research environment and enrich her specialized knowledge. However, after a period of practical exposure to businesses through factory tours and specialized seminars, Nhi gradually saw herself and future career trends more clearly.

From there, she decided to choose the path of working to accumulate practical experience and develop herself more comprehensively. From a little girl who loved Physics, Ý Nhi is now ready to step into the world of high technology with the knowledge, skills, and resilience forged at HUST. This coming September, Nhi will officially start working at Qorvo.

Now, as she is about to receive her engineering degree in Engineering Physics from HUST, Nhi doesn't remember how many credits she took, how many sleepless nights she spent on reports, or how many times she did an experiment. But she clearly remembers the feeling of standing in the laboratory for the first time, the radiant look in her teacher's eyes when the group had their first result, and every time she sat with friends on the library steps, looking out at the green expanse of trees at HUST, talking about the future.

"I think the biggest thing that has kept me going until today is my belief in myself, in the people around me, and in the path I have chosen. Sometimes you don't need to be exceptionally smart, just being persistent enough and not giving up is what makes you different!"

When asked what she would like to say to students who are dreaming of the Parabol gate of HUST, Nhi smiled gently: "Just go, just believe. The engineering path is not easy, but if your heart has passion and your feet are strong enough, you will definitely reach the place you dream of."
