On October 14, Hanoi University of Science and Technology welcomed a delegation from Ibaraki University (Japan), led by President Hiroyuki Ohta, to discuss an upcoming cooperation agreement.

This was the delegation's first visit, following an invitation extended by Assoc. Prof. Huynh Quyet Thang during his trip to Ibaraki in December 2023. Representatives from Vietnam-Japan University and Sekisho Vietnam Company also joined the delegation.

Currently, Ibaraki University's College of Engineering and HUST's School of Mechanical Engineering have launched a joint program, offering two scholarships for HUST students. As part of this collaboration, Ibaraki University has proposed establishing a short-term exchange program for students from both universities. The program would allow HUST students to improve their language skills and learn about Japanese corporate culture, while Ibaraki students could experience Vietnamese culture and explore work opportunities in a rapidly growing Southeast Asian country.

Ibaraki University is one of the two leading universities in Ibaraki Prefecture, comprising 5 colleges: College of Humanities and Social Sciences, College of Education, College of Science, College of Engineering, College of Agriculture. Specifically, the College of Engineering excels in teaching AI, digital transformation, DigitalTwin, model-based design, and semiconductor technology.

In recent years, partnerships with Japan have provided students and staff with valuable opportunities for academic exchange and work experience. One such example is the Higher Education Development Support Project on Information Technology (HEDSPI), which was launched in 2006 and has since been a successful collaboration between the two nations.
