On August 13, HUST signed a cooperation agreement with Adelaide University on credit transfer and recognition of prior learning between the two universities.
In the QS World University Rankings 2026, Adelaide University is ranked 82nd globally and is included in the Group of Eight (Go8) in Australia.
Prof. Le Anh Tuan, Chairman of HUST Council affirmed at the event: “I believe that this strategic consolidation will unite the strengths and traditions of both institutions, making Adelaide University even more influential and competitive on the global stage. We look forward to the new opportunities that this transformation will bring for our future collaboration.”

Prof. Le Anh Tuan was confident that with the shared commitment and the strong foundation that 2 universities have built, the partnership between HUST and the Adelaide University will continue to thrive, producing results that will make both parties proud and bring real value to society.
HUST has engaged in many exchange activities including student & staff mobility, academic & research exchanges with both the University of Adelaide and the University of South Australia, and reached a bilateral Agreement with the University of Adelaide since 2019.
However, today marks a particularly significant milestone: it is the first time we sign a formal agreement under the name of the newly established "Adelaide University", the university born from the historic merger of the two great universities (University of Adelaide and the University of South Australia).
Professor David Lloyd - Co-Vice Chancellor and President (VC) Adelaide University stated: “We want to advance our relationship with Hanoi University of Science and Technology for the future today with a signed agreement to establish articulation pathways and explore further collaborations across research and student mobility, maximising existing momentum and synergies.”

According to Professor David Lloyd, Adelaide University’s academic partnership and research collaborations with the Hanoi University of Science and Technology are vital to their bold vision.
With the strategic goal of developing university to become a multi-disciplinary research university with the core of engineering and technology, HUST always focuses on promoting cooperative activities with international academic partners to bring practical effectiveness to training, research, and development of human resources. The signing ceremony today will be a stepping stone for a long-term partnership between both sides.
Guided by our strategic vision to 2030, HUST’s research and innovation efforts focus on four priority areas: Data Technology & Intelligent Systems, Sustainable Energy & Environment, Advanced Materials, and Health Sciences & Technology. These are also the areas in which we aspire to deepen our collaboration with the Adelaide University, jointly developing and delivering high-impact research and academic programs, nurturing talented graduates, and jointly addressing critical challenges facing our countries and the wider world.

The two units signed a cooperation agreement on credit transfer and recognition of prior learning between the two universities, opening up many international study opportunities for HUST students in the future.
Adelaide University and HUST have a Credit Transfer Agreement in Pharmaceutical Chemistry Engineering, launched in 2019, allowing students to complete the first two years at HUST and the final two years at Adelaide University, culminating in a bachelor’s degree from Adelaide.
On August 14, the two universities will co-organize the Seminar “Green Skills: Driving Sustainable Workforce Development in Vietnam” in HUST.
This high-level event, led by senior leadership from the Adelaide University, will bring together academic leaders, government representatives, and industry stakeholders from both Australia and Vietnam to explore opportunities for collaboration in developing green skills — a priority fully aligned with Vietnam’s sustainable development agenda and its net-zero emissions target for 2050.
The seminar exemplifies how quickly the two universities can translate agreements into concrete actions.
