This morning (November 1), Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) solemnly held the Degree Awarding Ceremony for 38 new Doctors and 284 new Masters who completed their training programs in 2025. The ceremony marks a milestone recognizing the achievements of the postgraduate students' journey of diligent study and persistent research.
"A Higher Degree Means Greater Responsibility and a Greater Mission"
Speaking at the 2025 Doctoral and Master's Degree Awarding Ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Phong Dien – Vice President of Hanoi University of Science and Technology – emphasized: "This is a special cohort. Despite the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, HUST faculty and students worked hard to overcome difficulties, especially in training programs requiring practical work in laboratories."

Throughout 69 years of construction and development, Hanoi University of Science and Technology has trained over 20,000 Doctors and Masters, making significant contributions to the country's development in all fields. Generations of "HUST People" have created a unique identity, defined by four core values: Responsibility – Creativity – Integrity – Excellence.
Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Phong Dien addressed the new Doctors and Masters at the ceremony: "A higher degree means greater responsibility and a greater mission. Let the flame of scientific passion and the aspiration for creativity continue to burn brightly in your work and life. The knowledge and experience gained at HUST will be valuable assets helping you stand firm on your career paths."
"Always carry the spirit of HUST people: in your heart, hold responsibility towards your family, community, and the Fatherland; in your mind, hold the aspiration to integrate with the world. Let the world recognize Vietnamese intellect and mettle through you!" – The Vice President expressed his faith and expectations.
On behalf of the University leadership, he also sent deep gratitude to the faculty, scientists, and staff—those who silently dedicated themselves, transmitting knowledge and kindling the passion for research in generations of students.
Pride and Responsibility of the HUST Postgraduate Generation
Representing the 38 new Doctors and 284 new Masters, Dr. Trịnh Thị Hà – majoring in Materials Science, School of Materials Science and Engineering, Class of 2021 – shared emotionally during the ceremony: "During our time studying and researching at Hanoi University of Science and Technology, we received dedicated guidance and help from the Boards, Schools/Institutes/Faculties, scientists, supervisors, as well as training management staff. They created favorable conditions for us to acquire new knowledge and skills to successfully complete our learning and research tasks."

Dr. Trinh Thi Ha expressed her determination: "We will continue to strive in our studies and research, constantly applying the knowledge and skills equipped by the University into practical work. In any position, we always desire to fulfill our assigned tasks well, contributing to the country's development, so that we may forever be proud alumni of Hanoi University of Science and Technology."
After the ceremony, the new Doctors and Masters officially became members of the HUST Alumni Network, continuing the tradition of knowledge and connection of the great HUST family. Notably, this year also marks the 10th anniversary of the Alumni Network, a decade-long journey of converging, sharing, and spreading the steadfast, creative, and humane "HUST Spirit" across all regions of the Fatherland.
New Master Nguyen Thu Duyen – majoring in Chemical Engineering, School of Chemical and Life Sciences – shared: "I chose to pursue my Master's at HUST because, more than anyone, I understand the University's training quality—an environment that always prioritizes practicality and discipline."

For Thu Duyen, the Master's degree is not only a recognition of her ceaseless efforts but also a stepping stone for her to continue to higher education while enhancing her professional capacity and personal development.
Sharing this spirit, new Master Bui Xuan Hoang – majoring in Engineering Physics, a K64 alumnus of the School of Engineering Physics, currently working at LCD O-Tech Company (Hai Phong) – stated: "From my freshman year, after carefully researching HUST's training programs, I determined that I would continue to a Master's degree instead of stopping at the Engineering level. This is a decision I have never regretted."

After 7 years with the university, Master Xuan Hoang believes that the graduate program provided him with the opportunity to access deeper research and laboratory practice, experiences that the undergraduate level could not fully offer.
Family as a Pillar on the Academic Path
From early morning, the atmosphere at the C2 Hall was filled with joy and pride. Families and relatives of the new Doctors and Masters arrived early to share in this memorable moment. Among them, the family of new Doctor Lại Phú Minh from the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering had up to 20 relatives attending to celebrate.
Mr. Nguyen Duc Long, 70, uncle of Dr. Phu Minh, was teary-eyed witnessing his nephew receive the prestigious degree: "I greatly admire his learning spirit and am grateful to the University, a place that not only transmits knowledge but also cultivates character, helping him mature into who he is today."
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Huyen, wife of Dr. Phu Minh, shared emotionally: "Accompanying him throughout his PhD journey, I understand the effort and sacrifice he has gone through. Today, seeing him receive his degree at the country's leading technical university, I am truly proud."

Traveling from Nghe An to Hanoi overnight with her husband and two children, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Minh, parent of new Master Phan Thanh Dinh from the Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Informatics, shared her family's special journey: "We left at 9 PM and arrived in Hanoi at 3 AM. Despite the long and tiring road, our hearts are filled only with joy and excitement to see our son receive his Master's degree."
With eyes full of pride, Master Dinh's mother expressed: "I have great trust in HUST's training environment. Our family always hopes Dinh will continue to higher education, perhaps a PhD, and we will always support him, giving the best for him to pursue his dreams."

The ceremony concluded in a solemn and warm atmosphere as the prestigious degrees were handed over, marking the completion of a journey of knowledge and opening a new chapter for the new Doctors and Masters. The smiles and happy tears of teachers, families, and graduates made for a morning full of emotion.
