HUST strengthens cooperation with prestigious European Universities
Within the framework of the official visit of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Kingdom of Belgium from December 9-15, 2022, President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Quyet Thang joined the Mission and successfully signed three MoU on comprehensive cooperation and one bilateral cooperation agreement on staff and student exchange with three reputable academic partners in the Netherlands and Belgium.

In Den Haag, Netherlands, The Memorandum of Understanding in training and research collaborations between HUST and Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) in the Netherlands was signed at the Netherlands-Vietnam Business Forum on December 12th, 2022 under the witness by the Prime Ministers of the two countries.

The MoU on promoting comprehensive cooperation with Ghent University (UGent) and KU Leuven, and the Student Exchange Agreement between HUST and Faculty of Engineering Technology, KU Leuven University were exchanged at the Vietnam - Belgium Business Forum on December 15th, 2022, witnessed by the Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Princess of Belgium Astrid, and many other high-ranking representatives of the two governments.

During the visit, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his hope that European firms continue diversifying products, markets and supply chains to promote effective and sustainable production and business in Vietnam, providing Vietnamese organizations with the support of transferring modern science and technology, transferring advanced management science, training high-quality human resources on the principle of harmonizing benefits and sharing risks.

The commitment that the two Governments of the Netherlands and Vietnam set out is the goal of bringing net emissions to "zero" by 2050, the focus of cooperation is on promoting the green economy, using renewable energy, and promoting the economy circulation in Vietnam.

Belgium and Vietnam have agreed to a strategic partnership on agriculture including technological innovation, increased mechanization in agricultural production, and heightened production, processing, cooling, and transportation of agricultural export products, in addition to logistics, climate change, clean technology, health, and other fields.

The Government leader’s activities have contributed to effectively implementing the Party's foreign policy on improving the efficiency of external affairs and international integration;  promoting multilateral diplomacy and economic diplomacy for the development of the country together with strengthening the relations between Vietnam and Luxembourg, the Netherlands, and Belgium as Vietnam will mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties with the countries in 2023.

Overview of working session during the visit of the Prime Minister and high-ranking delegation in the Netherlands

In the period of 2023-2025, HUST will develop towards the model of a research and innovation university, promoting digital transformation, green transformation, linking university networks to mobilize the strength of research, innovation, and technology transfer. HUST has identified four priority areas of scientific research: Data technology and intelligent systems; Sustainable Energy and Environment; New material; Health Science and Technology.

HUST has developed long-term and intensive cooperation with academic partners in the Netherlands and Belgium. Many alumni of such prestigious universities in Belgium and the Netherlands as TU Delft, TU Twente, UGent, KU Leuven, VUB, etc. are current staff and/or important leaders at HUST.
 
Ghent University (UGent)
Founded in 1917 in Flanders, Ghent University is one of the largest Belgian universities, consistently rates among the top 100 universities in the world (ranked 143rd by QS World University Ranking 2023 and 107th by Times Higher Education (THE) World Universities Ranking 2022). The University offers more than 200 programs (including 73 English-taught master's programmes) and conducts in-depth research within a wide range of scientific domains.

KU Leuven
Founded in 1425, KU Leuven is one of the oldest and largest Belgian universities, ranked 84th by QS World University Ranking 2021, and 42nd by Times Higher Education (THE) World Universities Ranking 2022. KU Leuven boasts 14 campuses, spreading across 10 cities in Flanders, with more than 60,000 students, including 12,500 international students. In terms of research, KU Leuven is among the top universities in the world. Its faculties and departments are clustered into three thematic groups: Humanities and Social Sciences, Science, Engineering and Technology (SET), and Biomedical Sciences.

Delft University of Technology (TU Delft)
Delft University of Technology is one of the largest and oldest Dutch public technical universities. In 2022, the University is ranked in the top 10 technology and engineering universities in the world by QS World University Ranking. With 8 faculties and numerous research institutes, TU Delft has more than 25,000 students (undergraduate and postgraduate) and 6,000 employees (teaching, research, support, and management staff).
