From November 10 to 17, 38 outstanding students from Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) participated in the “Red Journey of Research and Study” for Vietnamese youth in China. Within the framework of the program, students experienced the "Passing the Torch of Tradition" research and study camp with the theme "Discovering Revolutionary Footprints, Shouldering the Mission of the Times" in Hubei Province and Chongqing Municipality (China).

A Journey Unfolding from Heroic History

The 2025 Red Journey of Research and Study for Vietnamese Youth in China was organized by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League of China under the direction of General Secretary To Lam and General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, President Xi Jinping, on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-China diplomatic relations and the "Vietnam-China Year of Humanistic Exchange."

The program was presided over by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League of China, with the participation of five universities from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

The "Red Journey of Research and Study" is an opportunity for the young generation of Vietnam and China to look back at the past, understand the present better, and aim for a future of sustainable cooperation. For the 38 outstanding students of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, this was an occasion to directly experience historical, cultural, and scientific-technological values, while also sensing the creative and pioneering spirit of Chinese youth.

Throughout the journey, each destination opened up a vivid slice of history. From museums and relic sites to modern research centers, students listened to stories of sacrifice, effort, and development aspirations of many generations. These experiences awakened in the young people a sense of pride, responsibility, and desire to contribute more to the community, while building new bridges of knowledge and trust between the youth of the two countries.

Under the leadership of Assoc. Prof. Pham Thanh Huyen – leader of the Delegation, Director of the Department of Student Affairs at HUST, and Dr. Phan Duy Nam – Member of the Standing Committee of the Youth Union, students visited many typical "red addresses" in Wuhan and Chongqing, along with leading Asian universities and research centers.

At Red Journey 2025, Dr. Phan Duy Nam - Deputy Head of the HUST Student Delegation, remarked: "The journey was constructed very elaborately and meaningfully, with tightly connected destinations, leading young people along the flow of history from revolutionary tradition to modernization."

With that spirit, HUST youth carried the message of learning, creativity, and cooperation, contributing to strengthening friendship and spreading positive energy between Vietnam and China in the era of integration.

Experiences Touching Knowledge and Emotion

During the 8 days of the 2025 Red Journey of Research and Study for Vietnamese Youth in China, the Vietnamese student delegation visited historical relics and cultural heritage sites in Wuhan and Chongqing: The Red Rock Revolution History Museum and Zhou Enlai's Residence, Hubei Provincial Museum, Dazu Rock Carvings, Yellow Crane Tower, etc.; visited local businesses; interacted directly with Chinese students; explored the "red gene" of China-Vietnam friendship; experienced the charm of traditional Chinese culture; and witnessed China's modernization achievements.

Students visited the Red Rock Revolution Memorial Hall in Chongqing – a place preserving many documents and artifacts associated with the revolutionary activities of Chinese Communist leaders such as Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai, and especially President Ho Chi Minh. On the second floor of the relic site, President Ho Chi Minh's office was restored to its original state, authentically recreating the time He lived and conducted revolutionary activities at Red Rock.

Standing amidst that historical space, many students clearly felt the resilience, wisdom, and indomitable spirit of the preceding generations. Simple yet valuable artifacts evoked pride and reminded young people of the responsibility to continue the tradition, contribute to the community, and build the future.

A memorable highlight of the journey was the visit to Dongfeng Motor Corporation – China's leading enterprise in the automotive industry, famous for high-quality vehicles and modern production technology. Here, HUST students had the opportunity to directly observe the production process from design and assembly to quality inspection, while learning about sustainable development strategies and the application of automation in the automotive industry.

The HUST Spirit on the Path of Vietnam-China Friendship

Red Journey 2025 carried the aspirations and responsibilities of 38 Hanoi University of Science and Technology students – representing over 42,000 students of the entire university. They are the elite faces trusted and selected by the University, acting as "knowledge bridges" in international exchange activities, carrying the spirit of HUST youth.

During the Vietnam-China youth exchange program in Chongqing city as part of Red Journey 2025, student Nguyễn Thế Hoàng from the School of Applied Mathematics and Informatics represented HUST youth to speak before delegates, teachers, and students of both countries. Using the image of the "historical flame" as the central theme, Hoàng guided listeners from the values cultivated by President Ho Chi Minh and Chairman Mao Zedong, to the challenges of the nations during wartime, and the journey of preserving ideals through storms.

In his speech at the program, Thế Hoàng emotionally shared that today's young generation is lucky to mature in peace, having far better opportunities for learning and development than previous generations. Therefore, the legacy left by the forefathers is not only a source of pride but also a responsibility. Nguyễn Thế Hoàng emphasized that Vietnamese and Chinese youth need to "receive the sacred flame" of the nation with respect and a sense of responsibility, and then "pass it on to the next generation" with an ever-brighter flame.

Besides academics, they also mentioned the importance of foreign languages, intercultural communication, and media in connecting students of the two countries.

Dialogues on the role of the Youth Union - Student Association, educational cooperation, and scientific-technological development contributed to portraying the image of dynamic, confident, and integration-ready HUST youth.

Especially, during the book exchange at Chongqing University, Ho Chi Minh's thoughts on lifelong learning, ethics, and the aspiration to contribute were introduced with great emotion, creating a bridge of knowledge and understanding between Vietnamese and Chinese students. All highlighted the proactive, creative, and integrative spirit of HUST youth in particular, and Vietnamese students in general.
Speaking at the Book Exchange Program between Vietnamese and Chinese students at Chongqing University, Assoc. Prof. Phạm Thanh Huyền - Head of the Student Affairs Office, expressed appreciation to the Organizing Committee for creating a meaningful academic and cultural space, helping Vietnamese students, including HUST students, to have valuable opportunities to exchange, learn, and share the spirit of youth on this special journey.
