On November 29, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh signed Decision No. 2622/QD-TTg establishing the Prime Minister's Support Team on the development of science , technology, innovation, digital transformation, and Project 06 (the Support Team). The Support Team includes four HUST members who are current, former, and alumni of HUST.
According to the decision, Mr. Vu Hai Quan, Permanent Deputy Minister of Science and Technology, will be the team leader. The Deputy Heads of the Team include: Mr. Ha Minh Hiep - Chief of Office, Ministry of Science and Technology; Mr. Tran Duy Ninh - Director of the National Digital Transformation Department, Ministry of Science and Technology; Mr. Pham Minh Hung - Director of the Administrative Reform Department, Ministry of Interior; Major General Vu Van Tan - Director of the Department of Administrative Police for Social Order, Ministry of Public Security .
The Team comprises members representing the Ministry of Science and Technology, universities, schools, institutes, and businesses. In which, HUST has two representatives: Professor Le Anh Tuan – Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the University Council, and Associate Professor Ta Hai Tung – Dean of the School of Information Communications and Technology.

The participation of two HUST leading experts demonstrates the position of the country's top-tier technical university in participating in policy planning and contributing to major government decisions. Professor Le Anh Tuan and Associate Professor Ta Hai Tung, who have extensive experience managing, researching, and implementing key science and technology programs, are expected to assist the Support Team in providing objective assessments, as well as proposing practical solutions and long-term visions for the nation.
Two other HUSTers participating in the Support Team are Mr. Nguyen Phu Hung – Director of the Department of Science, Technology and Engineering, Ministry of Science and Technology, a former staff member of HUST; and Mr. Nguyen Trung Chinh - Chairman of the Board of Directors of CMC Group, a HUST alumnus.
The Support Team is responsible for research, consultation, and providing ongoing support to the Prime Minister in analyzing technical and technological issues and proposing urgent, breakthrough, and interdisciplinary solutions; promptly proposing guidance, management, and coordination mechanisms to ensure the effective implementation of tasks related to science, technology, innovation, digital transformation, and Project 06.
The Task Force's mission is to analyze and forecast major technological trends domestically and globally, assess their multifaceted impacts on Vietnam's socio-economic development, and advise and recommend to the Prime Minister the issuance of proactive and effective adaptive solutions and policies.
Participate in providing feedback and critical analysis on technical and technological content for major projects, programs, and reports related to science, technology, innovation, digital transformation, and projects as directed by the Prime Minister; perform other tasks assigned by the Prime Minister.
The Support Team is authorized to proactively work with ministries, agencies, localities, and businesses; and to request ministries, agencies, localities, and businesses to provide necessary information, documents, and data to support the performance of its assigned functions and tasks.
The participation of four outstanding HUSTers further demonstrates the role and contribution of HUST’s intellectuals to the country, especially in the fields of science, technology, and innovation.
