On November 28, Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) signed a cooperation agreement with Kioxia Corporation (Japan) – a world-leading enterprise in the field of memory and semiconductor technology, opening a strategic cooperation phase between the University and the Japanese enterprise.
This is an opportunity for HUST to fulfill its mission of developing high-quality human resources for the semiconductor industry—a field playing a pillar role in digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and advanced technology sectors.
At the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Huynh Quyet Thang, President of HUST, expressed his expectation that specific, practical, and in-depth cooperation programs would soon be implemented. HUST commits to creating the most favorable conditions for cooperation activities between the two sides to be implemented substantially, effectively, and sustainably.
Assoc. Prof. Huynh Quyet Thang, President of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, speaks at the ceremony on November 28.
The HUST President emphasized: "I am confident that with KIOXIA's leading reputation, experience, and technology, combined with HUST's training-research capabilities and innovative spirit, we will together create outstanding achievements, actively contributing to the development of the semiconductor industry in Vietnam, Japan, and the region."
Mr. Niino Toshinobu – Chief Strategy Officer and Chief Human Resources Officer of Kioxia Corporation, stated: Based on the contributions of Vietnamese engineers at KIOXIA, as well as Vietnam's focus on developing human resources in the semiconductor industry, KIOXIA wishes for excellent Vietnamese engineers to demonstrate their capabilities at the company. KIOXIA hopes to sign an MoU with HUST regarding human resource training and graduation internships.

KIOXIA plans to send engineers who have directly participated in the research and development of NAND Flash memory and SSDs to HUST to coordinate teaching for students. They will also provide multi-month internship programs at KIOXIA's research, development, and manufacturing facilities in Japan for the University's students.
Mr. Niino Toshinobu affirmed: "I am certain that you will effectively demonstrate your abilities at KIOXIA, and the cooperation between our two parties will be an opportunity for KIOXIA to contribute to the training of semiconductor human resources in Vietnam."
H.E. Mr. ITO Naoki - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Vietnam, speaks at the ceremony on November 28.
Also at the ceremony, H.E. Mr. ITO Naoki - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Vietnam, shared: "Hanoi University of Science and Technology is Vietnam's leading university in science and technology. The University has sent many high-level personnel to work at Japanese companies and has increasingly more cooperation activities with Japan in the fields of AI and innovation.
Currently, under the leadership of General Secretary To Lam, Vietnam is promoting many reforms aimed at a new era, in which science, technology, and innovation are key pillars.
Furthermore, Vietnam has set a goal to train 500 doctoral students in the semiconductor field by 2030; Japan has announced it will receive half of that figure, equivalent to 250 doctoral students. Japan has implemented cooperation with five Vietnamese universities, including Hanoi University of Science and Technology."

Hanoi University of Science and Technology has clearly established its development philosophy in training, aligned with the country's development needs, business needs, and global trends: Training high-quality human resources for practical, hands-on work; Training talents – scientists; talents – technology experts; and talents – entrepreneurs.
Through strategic cooperation with HUST, KIOXIA in Vietnam demonstrates a long-term vision in developing a team of high-level semiconductor engineers and experts according to Japanese industrial standards. This is not only an opportunity but also an affirmation of faith in Vietnam's potential in the rapidly developing semiconductor sector.
The similarity in vision and philosophy of human resource development has created the basis for both units to build a new cooperation model, in which learners—students and young lecturers—are placed at the center.

The cooperation does not follow a one-way reception model but aims to co-create knowledge, generating shared and sustainable value for both sides. Instead of traditional training methods, this cooperation program builds an advanced and comprehensive model, including: Integrated training between theory and practice; Practical experience in the Japanese industrial environment; Clear career orientation; Opportunities to access new and advanced technologies of the global semiconductor industry.
Both sides agreed to focus cooperation on two main areas: Advanced Training Cooperation; and Expanding Internships & Developing High-Quality Human Resources.
The cooperation between Hanoi University of Science and Technology and KIOXIA is a specific testament to the "Converging Excellence" philosophy comprising 5 pillars: Excellence in People, Excellence in Knowledge and Technology, Excellence in Cooperation, Excellence in Value, and Excellence in Governance. This constitutes the identity and foundation for the sustainable development of Hanoi University of Science and Technology.
