HUST Partners with Singapore’s Leading Specialized Management University

On November 25, Hanoi University of Science and Technology signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Singapore Management University (SMU) to establish a strategic partnership, promoting academic cooperation, joint research, and postgraduate training opportunities.

Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) has set a development goal for 2035 to become a center for talent training, excellent research, and innovation, leading the country in science, engineering, and technology; and to rank among the top 100-150 universities in Asia according to prestigious international rankings. To achieve such strong strides, international integration is an indispensable task for the university.

At the signing ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Huynh Dang Chinh, Vice President of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, expressed: "I hope that our cooperation will achieve many good results, and the friendship between our two sides will develop even more strongly and sustainably in the future."

Hanoi University of Science and Technology is Vietnam's leading university in science, technology, and engineering. The university is known for its solid academic foundation, high-impact research, and many generations of talented engineers and scientists who have made immense contributions to the country's development.

Regarding the partner, Singapore Management University (SMU) is ranked 15th in the QS World University Rankings 2026 for specialized universities and is a globally recognized institution. The university is renowned for world-class research, innovative teaching methods, and excellence in the fields of business, economics, computing, and social sciences. SMU always strives to train leaders with analytical and progressive thinking who can address both regional and global challenges.

Assoc. Prof. Themin Suwardy – Associate Provost of SMU, stated: To date, SMU has a 25-year history. Although younger than HUST, the university always strives to learn from Western countries and developed university models, continuously connecting with the world to progress day by day. Singapore Management University wishes to cooperate with Hanoi University of Science and Technology to aim for noble goals together, bringing prosperity to both countries.

He pledged: "We will share all knowledge and learning materials, encourage scientists to participate in joint research, and create the best conditions for exchange students between the two universities to have many opportunities to access and experience the world's treasury of knowledge."

The partnership between Hanoi University of Science and Technology and SMU is built on mutual respect, complementary strengths, and a future-oriented vision to create new opportunities for students, faculty, and the broader communities of both nations.
