Since October 2021, HUST official received the grant project "Decentralized Water Resource Circulation as a Sustainable Solution for Plantation" under the LASER PULSE program funded by the USAID. The project brings back a meaningful result right at the course of the 65th anniversary activity series of HUST founding.

LASER (Long-term Assistance and Services for Research) PULSE (Partners for University-Led Solutions Engine) is a five-year program funded through USAID’s Innovation, Technology, and Research Hub, that delivers research-driven solutions to field-sourced development challenges in USAID interest countries.

In 2020, LASER PULSE looked for applications for three development sectors, namely: air pollution, water pollution, and small and medium enterprise competitiveness for Vietnam. The call attracted 36 applications from leading universities and research institutes in Vietnam and the United States.

The research team of the School of Environmental Science and Technology – Hanoi University of Science and Technology has proposed the project "Decentralized Water Resource Circulation as a Sustainable Solution for Plantation" and passed a one-year careful review and co-creation process. The grant project has been chosen as one of five projects officially approved in Vietnam since August 2021.

This project to be implemented by Prof. Hoang Thi Thu Huong and co-PI Prof. Do Khac Uan, School of Environmental Science and Technology, HUST. The grant aims to develop practices that promote Decentralized water circulation to reuse water and nutrients in domestic wastewater to support greenifying local areas without excessively exploiting the local natural resource. Effective measures and practices can conceivably change local water usage in different communities.

The project agreement was officially signed in the month of HUST 65th anniversary event.

HUST takes pleasure to receive a congratulatory video from Dr. Arvind Raman, Director of Laser Pulse on the 65th anniversary. He expresses the hope for the project to yield positive results and have significant impact in real life.
